New office procedures during COVID-19
Due to the presence of aerosols created in a dental practice, which can potentially transmit COVID-19, we are following recommendations for infection control as made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). to keep both our patients and staff safe include:
Some of our new protocol includes:
PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT
- Our office will ask you pre-screening questions prior to your visit. These same questions will be asked again upon arriving at the office.
- Patients will be asked to wear masks upon entering, use the hand sanitizer provided in the waiting area, and have their temperature taken
- Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, as those items are difficult to clean and disinfect
- Patients in the waiting room will be limited to as few as possible to follow social distancing guidelines. Patients will have the option to wait in their car and be called in for their appointment
DURING THE APPOINTMENT
- Operatories and common spaces will feature medical, HEPA grade air purifiers which are able to catch viral-sized particles
- Patients will be given an antimicrobial ‘pre-rinse’
- Staff will be equipped with appropriate PPE including surgical masks and face shields
